The most used words in 2020 are “UNPRECEDENTED” and “PIVOT”. Holidays are no exception. We have all had to make hard decisions about whether to cancel holiday dinners, quarantine prior to an event, alter gift giving habits from years past. Some of us have had to make the harder decision of gifts or house payment. 2020 has given us many, many challenges. It has also let us find an inner strength and power within us. The strength to persevere, the ability to apply a smile when inside things feel dark, the recognition that we do need our village of women we have created to help process what we are experiencing and the knowledge that we CAN deal with anything thrown at us.

In our house, we took this as an opportunity to look outside of our home to find people we can assist. Since our small businesses are being forced to close, food banks are overwhelmed. More than ever, people are in need of help. We found a local church that was collecting bagged meals for those in need. My kids (8 & 6 year old) and I made sandwiches, added juice boxes, snacks and foods from the earth (fun way to say fruits and veggies). My kids enjoyed packing lunch bags for others. When we went to deliver them, the kids and I stayed and watched people pickup their meals. It was an eye opener for my children to see people coming out of newer cars who needed assistance. Next year I look forward to a new adventure to teach my kids the value of helping others during the holidays and year round.

What was your childhood ambition?

To marry Fabio and to go to University of Wisconsin-Madison. One out of two isn’t bad!!

What is the furthest you have been away from home?

I’ve lived in 7 states since leaving home. In chronological order they are Wisconsin, Hawaii, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Washington and California. For vacation the farthest is Thailand and New Zealand.

How did you find Fit4Mom?

I lived across from the park where one just opened. I joined when I was 7 months pregnant with Sammy (who just turned 4) and it was the BEST decision I every made!

How has Fit4Mom impacted your life?

We have moved 5 times with the Army in the last 7 years. It is hard constantly moving (we will be in LA for only 2 years total) but I know the next move will always been fine because of Fit4Mom. Every time we get to a new place, I find the closest FIt4Mom and go the first day we are settled. There is no more welcoming of a group than one filled with moms who have kids especially young kids. I’ve made instant genuine friends everywhere I have gone and it’s been my saving grace living this chaotic mom life!

What’s your favorite exercise?

Plank and Downward dog pushups

What's your proudest moment?

Moving to Hawaii on my own when I was 22 not knowing a single soul. It shaped me to become a strong independent woman who can take care of herself. Also, I met my husband and got married out there.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.

I was heavier my senior year of high school than I was when I was 9 months pregnant with both boys.

Have ya met Cheyenne? This amazing Mama joined our Village at the beginning of 2020 and has stuck with us during this crazy pandemic. As soon as we were able to resume in-person classes, Cheyenne was ready to go! I don't think she has missed a single class. You can find Cheyenne at Stroller Strides with her beautiful baby girl Sky. Cheyenne's energy is contagious and we are so lucky to have her in our Village of Strong Mamas! Check out below to learn more about Cheyenne :)

Hometown: Simi Valley , Ca

Tell us about your family: My husband, Mike, and I have been together 6.5 years and married for 2! We have 1 beautiful baby girl, Skyler James, and she is 9 months old! We joke and call our family the “LeBard Zoo” because we have a horse, a giant golden retriever, and 2 cats who run the house and Skyler is obsessed with her fur siblings!

Current/ previous career: I am a hairstylist and full time mama! I’m really fortunate that I am able to make my own schedule and have the flexibility to be home with Skyler and also continue doing hair!

Childhood Ambition: To be a hairstylist! When I was a kid, I would play with my moms hair at night while she watched Lifetime Movies so I could stay up past my bedtime and I taught myself how to braid on my horses mane and tail!

Furthest you’ve been away from home: Ireland , Denmark, Costa Rica & Cabo!

How did you find Fit4Mom: my friend Jamie Siskin sent me the Instagram page and asked if I’d want to take a class once we were cleared to workout after having our babies and I’m not gonna lie, I was so intimidated and nervous to take a class but I’m forever thankful we did! (Thank you Jamie!!!!!)

How has fit4mom impacted your life:

Fit4Mom has impacted my life in such a deeper way than just getting fit. After having Skyler, I got post partum depression and I was so scared and embarrassed to admit what I was feeling . I’ve always wanted to be a mom, this is a dream come true... I was so confused how this could happen to me? I felt so alone until my first Fit4Mom class... I cried happy tears after the class because I was SO relieved. I found exactly what I needed .... A village of women who are strong, supportive, non judgemental and SO understanding! I joined when Skyler was 7 weeks old (now 9 months) and I am forever thankful I joined Stroller Strides so early in my post partum journey because these workouts and the fit4mom mamas have truly helped me through the hardest day !

Favorite exercise: SQUATS!

Proudest moment:My proudest moment was the moment my daughter took her first breath as she came into the world and I knew I did it! When I was 35 weeks pregnant I told my OB that I could NOT push a baby out of me. LOL. I was so terrified of the unknown... but I did it and I am so proud ! Women are so strong!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I’m a crazy garden lady . I started my first quarantine veggie garden and I actually surprised myself because my garden is thriving and normally I can’t keep any plants alive.

Danielle has been with Fit4Mom Thousand Oaks since 2015. She started as a client in Stroller Strides with her daughter Devon and then gave Body Back a try after her son Dillion was born. Soon after she became a Body Back instructor. Danielle's passion for health and fitness radiates in her classes and she is a true inspiration to all of her clients. Her classes are challenging and she knows how to push her clients out of their comfort zones (I know they thank her after) She puts so much thought and love into each of her classes. We are so lucky to have Danielle on Team Fit4Mom! You can find Danielle teaching Body Back at 9:30 am and 5:30 am. This Spring she will be teaching our 8 week session starting 4/20 at 9:30 am Mon/Wed at Birch inside The Oaks Mall. Let Danielle push you to be the best version of yourself!

Rachael and I wanted to take this opportunity to share a little about ourselves and what Fit4Mom means to us. We have know some of you for years and others we have just met and look forward to getting to know you better! Both Rachael and I have been involved with Fit4Mom for many years. I joined when my 7 year old was just 8 weeks old and Rachael has been with this community since 2013...yes, we are old! Shortly after joining this Franchise both Rachael and I became instructors; Rachael in Body Back and myself in Stroller Strides. In 2018, we had the opportunity to purchase the franchise and it has been full steam ahead ever since. We are so grateful for the opportunity to bring Mamas together and sweat. Let's be real...Motherhood is HARD and we need one another! Both Rachael and I have always been passionate about fitness and it was something we were not willing to sacrifice just because we were taking care of our babies. Stroller Strides gave us what we needed physically and emotionally. Through Fit4Mom we have found some of our best friends, our childrens best friends and a place to feel welcomed, safe and supported. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing the love that is Fit4Mom Thousand Oaks!

Meet Maddie Mays!

Maddie is super Mama to Thea (2.5) and Nolan (7 months). You can catch her at Stroller Strides most days of the week. She joined Fit4Mom almost a year ago and we can't imagine our Village without her. Maddie is usually the first one to arrive to class and always welcomes each Mama with a welcoming smile. Her energy during class is contagious! She is one of the most flexible Mamas we know and not in the "bendy" sorta way; most classes Maddie is wearing baby Nolan and she does not let it stop her from getting in a great workout. She is an inspiration (and visual demonstrator) to all the Mamas that think wearing a baby means the workout has to stop!

Santa Barbara

Tell us about your family:

The Mays family includes me, my husband Zack, daughter Thea (2 years, 7 months), son Nolan (7 months), and Jax the cat. My husband and I met at O'Malley's Bar in Santa Barbara when I was 21 and we've been together ever since. We got married in 2015 and we've lived in 6 different houses in 4 cities in 2 countries. Jax has been with us since the beginning in Santa Barbara, and we added Thea in Toronto and Nolan in Thousand Oaks. Thea and Nolan have the same birthday (the odds of that happening are 1/365)!

Current/Previous Career:

I currently work (very part time, from home) for a company of public adjusters called The Greenspan Co. My husband and I have moved a lot so I've never established a "real" career, but I've been a visual merchandiser for a high end clothing boutique in Santa Barbara, worked in HR and Marketing for a company in LA, and as an Admin for Nordstrom Canada.

What was your childhood ambition?

To be a mom!

What is the furthest you have been away from home?

Normandy, France and Galway, Ireland

How did you find Fit4Mom?

After we moved to TO, I saw everyone working out at Janss and looked it up online! Then found out a friend from Horizon Hills (shout out to Jessica Hull) was a member.

How has Fit4Mom impacted your life?

I can finally work out! With my husband's schedule and my *clingy* children, I could never make it to the gym and had a hard time motivating myself to workout at home. Thanks to Fit4Mom, I can get in a great workout and also talk with other moms while the kids play. I love that it's a program that benefits me AND the kids and gets us out of the house in the morning. Thea asks to go to "mommy's workout class" every day!

What's your favorite exercise?

Any compound exercises with the bands that I can do with a baby strapped to my chest!

What's your proudest moment?

The birth of both my kids - no drugs, no doulas, and no doctor the second time! Made me feel so strong.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.

I love baking and have a major sweet tooth, but I hate chocolate chips!

Meet Rachel Shimanovsky!

Rachel is Mama to 2 year old Shiloh and wife to Jessi, She joined Fit4Mom a little over one year ago. You can catch her at Stroller Strides most weeks. She is the one with the BIG smile on her face even when she is pushed out of her comfort zone! We love having Rachel in our Village, she is such a bright light and it is contagious!

Hometown: I was born in Los Angeles, but moved around a lot growing up. The longest I've lived somewhere was in Valencia when I was a teenager.

Tell us about your family: I am married to my wife Jessi and we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter named Shiloh. Jessi and I have been together since 2011, and I am constantly reminded how grateful I am to not only be married to her, but parent with her as well. She's my best friend in life and we have the best time!

I have two parents, Sam and Rose, and a younger brother named Josh. Our family owns an essential oil business, so that has been awesome to be able to work for my family all of these years. My dad is from Russia, and came here when he was 13 with just 1 suitcase. His stories always remind me how grateful I need to be for everything I have in my life. He is also a twin! My mom is the youngest of 4 children, and is my best friend. My brother is super goofy, which is great because so am I. Basically, our family hang outs are just one big laughing session. If you need to find us, just follow the sound of laughter and Star Trek / Stargate / Seinfeld references.

Current/Previous Career: I just started my own photography business (yay!) called Proud Owl Photography. I also do Marketing for our family company called Organic Infusions (selling essential oils, diffusers, etc.)

What was your childhood ambition? My childhood ambition was to be the best female basketball player! I started playing when I was 7 and never looked back!

What is the furthest you have been away from home? I went to Scotland about 6 years ago, so that counts right?!

How did you find Fit4Mom? So random, but about 10 years ago I started nannying for a Fit4Mom (used to just be Stroller Strides) coach in Simi Valley. I would even accompany her to classes and do them for free while she coached. I knew right away when I got pregnant that I would join Fit4mom because I saw how much fun the moms were having, how the kids developed these amazing friendships, and I wanted that for me and my daughter :)

How has Fit4Mom impacted your life? OMG so many ways!! 1) Definitely got me back into shape after having my daughter 2) The coaches are A M A Z I N G, I have honestly never met more genuine, kind people in my life. They truly want you to succeed, while having a good time. Couldn't ask for anything more! 3) A network of moms who support me no matter what, and I know these connections will last forever. 4) The friendships my daughter has made in these classes, have grown to outside these classes as well with play dates. Also, she is a huge fan of these park workouts because she knows we get to play afterwards and hang out with our friends :)

Basically, Fit4Mom was perfect for me as a 1st time new mom because it got me out of the house, kicked my butt into gear, gave me this amazing friendships, and reminded me that I'm not alone in this journey called motherhood.

What's your favorite exercise? I loved when we played duck duck goose when Annie was coaching, and we all had to do planks balancing cups of cold water on our backs. The person who was picked had to chase the other person and had cold water poured on their back. That was definitely the hardest I've laughed during a workout. Who says you can't have fun while working out?!

What's your proudest moment? My proudest moment is by far seeing my daughter grow and discover the world. Every new milestone that she hits I'm more proud than the last one. Most recently, she has really become really into imaginative play, and I could literally sit there and watch her for hours. She's my joy in this world and I couldn't be more proud of her.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us. Our wedding was Star Trek theme, and we actually entered our reception with the theme song from Star Trek The Next Generation. We actually got featured on the Star Trek official website! #Engage

The physical benefits are obvious, but I really want to touch on the amazing mental benefits the community provides! Fit4Mom is a true tribe of supportive, kind, and strong women! Kris Buckhout: Kris has been with Fit4Mom for over a year and is a constant face at Stroller Strides. She is Mommy to 1.5 year old Harper. This hard working mama brings it to every class, Her attitude and enthusiasm screams FIT4MOM! It is evident that Kris loves being a mom, anyone around her can see and feel her positivity for motherhood!

Let's meet Kris...

Hometown: Roseville, CA

Tell us about your family: My husband and I met 5 years ago on tinder (I know, I know) and spent every second together since. We got married in Mexico about 2 years later and had Harper shortly after. I’ve always dreamed about being a SAHM/WAHM but never thought it would actually happen because financially we didn’t think we could swing it. I’ve now almost been home for two years and I am finally making an income from social media! It’s been so fun to be at home with Harper and raise her while also having a creative outlet from my blog and instagram.

Current/Previous Career: I help manage a few social media accounts for brands as well as my own!

What was your childhood ambition? A dancer for sure!

What is the furthest you have been away from home? London

How did you find Fit4Mom? My girlfriend Kelly invited me to a class with her and the rest is history!

How has Fit4Mom impacted your life? SO many ways. Besides from the obvious health benefits I get from working out, I’ve also met so many mamas and some are even my closest friends now! It has also helped my mental state tremendously having such a core group of women to be around and raise our littles together.

What's your favorite exercise? I love squats! I used to have a pretty nice booty pre baby and it significantly changed after Harper. Now I can finally say I have my old booty back!

What's your proudest moment? When other moms join FFM and compliment how well behaved Harper is during class (even though we’ve had plenty of time to practice).

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us- I have my cosmetology license.

It's always fun to have some games to play when friends and family get together for the holidays. Here are some fun ones to add to your holiday celebrations that are good for all ages!

Candy Cane Grab

What you'll need:

  • Individually wrapped candy canes (one for each guest who will participate as well as some for the game)
  • Pipe Cleaners and cut out wreaths about the size of our palm
  • A die

How to play:

  • Each player gets a candy cane. They will use the candy cane as a "fishing hook" by putting the long end in their mouth.
  • In the center of the table you will have a pile of candy canes and the paper wreaths you created with the pipe cleaners (have the kids help with this task)
  • Each time someone rolls the die, they need to "hook" that number of items from the center using only their candy cane
  • When everything have been hooked, the player with the most items wins

Balloon Pop

This one is a fun one for everyone. It will require some advanced prep but it is well worth it.

What you'll need:

  • Festive color balloons- depending on how many participants and how long you want the game to last. I recommend 4-5 per person.
  • Items to put inside the balloons. Her are some ideas depending on the age of your participants: stickers, small coloring pages, a shrinky dink, temporary tattoos, cash (good for older kids), or you can plan out a spelling game by putting letters inside the balloons. Really, it is up to your imagination and what you can fit inside the balloon.

How to play:

Fill each balloon with 1 item and blow them up. When you are ready to play, place all the balloons in the center of the floor. Use the timer and have your participants pop the balloons using their bottoms. It's fun for everyone!

Holiday Pictionary

This is a fun game for older kids and family members. All you need is some paper or an easel and some basic drawing skills.

What you'll need:

  • Easel or paper
  • Crayons, pencils or a pen
  • Timer
  • Holiday themed ideas written out on small pieces of paper such as: menorah, Christmas tree, wreath, candy cane, Santa Claus, Driedel, Star of David, wrapped present, foods associated with your holiday celebration, etc. Whatever your holiday consists of and your imagination

How to Play:

  • Place all the Holiday themed ideas in a bowl so they cannot be seen
  • Break into 2 teams, choose which team will go first
  • Team 1 will draw first. The drawer will select a holiday themed idea from the bowl. Without using words, they will draw pictures on the easel while the rest of their team will guess the holiday themed idea. The team must beat the timer to win the point. If they do not guess the correct image before the timer ends, the other team can "steal" by guessing correctly.
  • Each team takes a turn until the bowl is empty.

A BIG thank you to Cheri LaGrotta of Horizon Hills for these great ideas!

1/2 C fresh or frozen berries

1/4 ripe banana mashed (about 2 tablespoons)

1 Tbsp maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 C rolled oats

1/4 hemp seeds (or add more oats)

1-1 1/2 C low-fat milk or unsweetened non-dairy milk (depending on how firm you like your oats)

Put all ingredients in the mason jar (or other container) in the order listed.

Close lid tightly and shake well. Store in the refrigerator until the next morning. Before eating, shake well again. Serve cold or warm. If serving warm, remove the lid before warming in the microwave or pour contents in a pot to warm on the stove.

Tell us about your family: I am married to a very hard working hubby Mike, and a mom to our little son Mikey.

Current/Previous Career: I have been working in customer service related jobs my whole working career and absolutely loved it. But my true calling now is being a stay at home mom.

What was your childhood ambition? I always wanted to work in the medical field/when I got older and figured out how much schooling/blood came with it I quickly changed my mind.

What is the furthest you have been away from home? Bahamas for our honeymoon. Highly recommend it being one of your traveling destinations in the near future.

How did you find Fit4Mom? I came across a post on (moms of Conejo Valley) and had to find out more since it involved workout with your baby. Exactly what I was looking for. I quickly became addicted after signing up after my first class. I highly recommend Fit4mom and all there classes they offer. I’m now hooked to boost/transition program after you complete body back.

What's your favorite exercise? Plank Jacks

What's your proudest moment? My proudest Fit4mom moment was when I FINALLY was able to complete (star jacks) after attempting them at most classes since I first joined. That moment took place this past summer (2018) at one of our beach classes at Zuma.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I can fall asleep anywhere/within minutes after laying down. LITERALLY (ask the hubby)

Ana Sanson has been with Fit4Mom Thousand Oaks since the beginning! I like to describe Ana's classes as a big serving of booty kicking with a side of warm hug 😂 Ana has a way of making you feel like you CAN do anything! She is one of the most approachable Mamas I know and we are so grateful to have her on our team! Not only does Ana teach Stroller Strides and Body Back but she also handles ALL of our social media! All those pretty pictures you see on Instagram and Facebook...yeah that's Ana!

Tell us about who is in your family.

I am married to my amazing hubby Brett, and am mama to our two boys Jax and Merrick.

Current/previous career?

I managed a sushi restaurant, and I oversaw a private equity portfolio for a commercial real estate firm.

What are you doing when you aren't FIT4MOM-ing?

Building up my new life coaching business! And planning a retreat for mamas! :)

2nd to that would be traveling! I Love to travel! Especially if it involves surfing, yoga, good food and wine

Favorite exercise?

Type of exercise: - Stroller Strides and Body Back got me in the best shape of my life and made me some of my best friends. So those two are my favorite ways to work out. Community, hard work, good vibes, and lots of laughs wins every time!

Favorite move- mountain climbers.. or anything triceps.. or lunges... I can't decide i love them all!!!

What are your three current obsessions?

Golden (Turmeric) Lattes are sooo delicious!

Hikes! We are getting into some perfect hiking weather and being out in nature is so rejuvenating. Who wants to go on the next one?

Anything from The Little Market. They are a fair trade nonprofit that ethically sources beautiful goods from female artisans around the world. Women helping to empower women is my jam.

Can I have a 4th? Because - .. Siete Lime Tortilla Chips - grain free.. so guilt free... right? Need I say more? ;)

What is your dream day?

"Start the Day with Meditation and surf, have an amazing morning working because I love what I do, spend the afternoon with my kids at the beach, end with a yummy dinner and wine surrounded by family and good friends. - wait... I should've started..the laundry is magically ALL done AND put away... the end. HAHAH :)"

What does being a FIT4MOM instructor mean to you?

It means... helping empower mamas to live a healthier, happier life. Helping to show them what they are truly capable of, and to show them what a real community of support looks like and FEELS like. It means I care about my mamas and want them to feel supported, and strong as a mother, and inspired to be the best they can be for their kids. And that they are not alone in this amazing, often crazy, but wonderful journey of motherhood.

Maloney Family-edited-0029 (1).jpg

Sandra Maloney: This amazing Mama has got some serious spunk that is contagious! I dare you to workout next to her. Besides being an all-around bad ass, she is one of the realest Mamas we know.

Hometown: Bayonne NJ

Tell us about your family: My husband, Brent and I met in Manhattan in 2008 and were married two years later. Since then we have had three vivacious boys, Xavier 5, Samuel 3 and Elias 1 and a dog named Logan. We recently moved to Westlake Village because of a job opportunity Brent could not refuse. We had always joked about moving to California because of the weather so when the opportunity came up, we knew we had to take it. It wasn’t easy leaving our family and friends but we love the idea of taking our boys on this wild adventure across country.

Current/Previous Career: I worked with college students as a Career Counselor for 11 years and stopped working full time two years ago. Now I work from home for a restoration company managing their human resources.

What was your childhood ambition? I always wanted to travel and see the world. I have been so lucky to see so many amazing places.

What is the furthest you have been away from home? I have traveled on vacation to far off places but California is the farthest I have lived from home.

How did you find Fit4Mom? I was at the playground at Triunfo Park when I saw a Stroller Strides class end and just asked one of the moms.

How has Fit4Mom impacted your life? This group has given me a constant. Every day I can find a community with a common goal; be stronger, healthier and better moms for our babies. As a counselor I know that there is no greater act than empowering others. Women and moms have the power to do anything but it is hard to remember that when we are exhausted and overwhelmed by the daily “mom duties”. Fit4mom helped me to see just how strong I am for myself.

What's your favorite exercise? Maniacs! Because who doesn’t love to just let is all go wacky sometimes?

What's your proudest moment? Besides having my three beautiful boys and marrying Brent, I would have to say completing the NY Marathon. Not many things come close to the thrill of running that city I love so much.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I am a Jersey girl who loves country music!

Have you had the chance to meet Joy Pappas yet? She is the mama who always has a smile on her face no matter how crazy the workout is! She got to do something so cool- major envy here! Read below to find out.....

What was your childhood ambition?

I always wanted to be a Pediatrician or NICU Nurse because I love babies so much!

What is the furthest you have been away from home?

Traveling - Europe & Living - California

How did you find Fit4Mom?

One of my best friend’s from high school, Brandi, told me about it several years ago after she joined in Texas. She said such great things about her experience, that I always knew I wanted to join once I started having babies too. Coincidentally, Brandi was in town visiting when Matthew turned 7 weeks old, so it was perfect timing for me to finally get started with Fit4Mom! She went with me to my first class & the rest is history!

How has Fit4Mom impacted your life?

Fit4Mom has been such a positive influence in my life! It’s what I look forward to the most each week! After my son was born, I felt stir crazy being at home all day, so as soon as Matthew turned 7 weeks old, I hopped in my car and headed to my first Fit4Mom class! Not only do I love the awesome workouts & encouraging instructors, but I’m so thankful for the great network of moms & babies I’ve met!

What's your favorite exercise?

I love all of the exercise combinations we do that mix cardio with strength training.

What's your proudest moment?

Definitely giving birth to my son, but also marrying my husband, because without him I wouldn’t have my sweet little family!

Have you taken a class with Rachel Hundley yet? If not, then check the schedule and get your sweat on with this OG Stroller Strides instructor. Rachel is also certified in Stroller Barre and Body Back Transformation. Learn more about her here:

Tell us about who is in your family.

My husband Jake, our two kiddos Savannah (5) and Camden (almost 3) and our dog Penny

Current/previous career?

I was an event planner for UCLA before I had kids! Technically I guess you could count my little shop as my other current job too. Snuggle Up Buttercups is Etsy/online store for blankets and baby accessories and I’m working on an offshoot for girls dresses right now too.

What are you doing when you aren't FIT4MOM-ing?

Running around after my kids, sitting in the backyard watching them play nicely together (sometimes...), hanging out with our friends at the pool/beach/whatever or taking them for little adventures and sewing whenever I get an extra moment.

Favorite exercise?

Burpees! And I also love deadlifts and monkeys because they don’t feel like much when you’re doing them but you’re always sore after.

What are your three current obsessions?

I don't know if these are totally weird but they're the first things that came to my mind....

Body back (is that weird ;)?? taking body back classes legitmately makes me a happier person)

Target (it's literally the only place I shop)

Starbucks (past, present and future obsession)

What is your dream day?

With my kids or without lol?? I love a good spa day at the Four Seasons if I get a day off to relax. Laying by the pool is my favorite. With my kids, we love to go to Disneyland...I know it's cliche but it's so magical there. No one melts down or throws fits or anything...they get along and love on each other and just exude happiness and it's so fun to watch.

What does being a FIT4MOM instructor mean to you?

It means teaching mamas and their children about how fitness can be fun and an amazing part of their lives. Fit4Mom was one of the first things that I got connected with when I first became a mom and it changed my life. Not only do I live a healthier, more active lifestyle, but my kids like to exercise "like mommy" and even play a game out of it. Also, being a Body Back instructor is ridiculously inspiring...watching mamas push themselves to new levels and really work out of their comfort zone to see how strong they really are!

You can find Rachel teaching at Oakbrook Park in Thousand Oaks most Mondays and Starbucks ;)

Have you had the opportunity to meet Ellen Miller? She has been with us since 2014 as a Strider. She completed Body Back Transformation in May 2018 and has been a tour de force. Learn more about this super woman here:

Thank you Nicole for being our first #momofthemonth on #meetthemamas We are so excited to launch this page with one very special woman! Check back each month to meet another one of our incredible mamas.

Hometown: I grew up in Santa Rosa Valley but now I live in Moorpark.

Tell us about your family: I have been married to my husband, Blake, for 4 years now. I met him when I moved back home from college and it was pretty much love at first sight for both of us. It's true when they say opposites attract because we really are opposite in SO many ways! We have an 8 month old daughter, Victoria who we couldn't be more in love with. She really has been such an easy baby for us so far, we are so lucky!

Current/Previous Career: I am currently a Stay at Home Mama. I think it is the hardest yet most rewarding job out there! I previously worked as an Account Manager for a Home Furnishing company. (That's where I met Blake!)

What was your childhood ambition? I started riding horses when I was 3 years old so I always wanted to either own my own barn and teach kids how to ride or become a vet.

What is the furthest you have been away from home? I am not a big traveller so probably when I went to college in Massachusetts. Not only was it the farthest from home, but definitely the longest time away from my family. I always knew I would come back to Southern California and raise a family here.

How did you find Fit4Mom? My sister-in-laws, Dana Lattanzio and Erika Howell introduced me to Fit4Mom. It is so fun to be able to workout with Erika and see my nieces throughout the week. I wish Dana wasn't moving so she could be with us, too!

How has Fit4Mom impacted your life? Fit4Mom keeps me sane! I am able to get out of the house and focus on myself for an hour all while being with an amazing group of STRONG Mamas!

What's your favorite exercise? I love squats because my glutes burn SO good the next day. I also really like tricep dips because they really help with the muscle definition in my arms.

What's your proudest moment? Definitely becoming a Mother. I went through 21 hours of labor and ended up needing an emergency C-Section when delivering Victoria.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I am a big LA Kings hockey fan! Every time I go to a game, I bring a sign for one of the players, Drew Doughty #8. He has flipped 3 pucks over the glass for me during warm ups and even signed one of my signs with a little note before the game started. I've gotten on the jumbo tron a bunch of times and even made it on TV with my sign after the game!
